Meet Solace Midwifery!

Cara Grigsby, CPM-TN

Cara Grigsby is a Tennessee Licensed, Certified Professional Midwife and the co-owner of Solace Midwifery. After years of rigorous didactic and clinical training, she received her certification through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and was licensed by the State of Tennessee in 2023. After attending hundreds of birth, Cara is still in awe of the beauty, wonder, and strength she gets to witness in her clients every single time. After creating a successful solo practice, it was time to seek collaboration as a way to both better serve clients and be more present for herself and her family. Forming Solace Midwifery with Kyndall was a dream come true!

Prior to midwifery, Cara served hundreds of families as a birth doula over eleven years of practice. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sociology with an emphasis on birth and death from Middle Tennessee State University. She also has specialized training with Spinning Babies, Breech Without Borders, DONA International, Intrauterine Insemination, and a passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and trauma survivors through their reproductive journey. Being a midwife is not just a job for her. It is a deep passion and one that she does not take lightly, walking with people through what can be the most vulnerable, scary, hopeful, and joyful time of their lives. She hope to bring a sense of peace, safety, and comfort to all of the families that she has the honor of serving.

Outside of birth land, you’ll find her spending time with her family, creating art, reading, having dance parties in the kitchen, seeing live music, and catching as many mid-day naps as possible!

Sydney Raym, Student Midwife

From the moment I can remember, I’ve lived my life in rhythm with the land. As a lifelong farmer, I’ve been surrounded by birth, growth, and renewal—animals welcoming their young, plants pushing through soil, and the constant reminder that life is always unfolding. That environment shaped me. It taught me to trust the wisdom of the body, to honor the cycles of life, and to witness the miracle of birth in all its forms.

My connection to fertility, nurturing, and health has always been intuitive and deeply personal. Over the years, that connection grew into a calling: to support people in bringing new life into the world with safety, dignity, and reverence. I realized I wanted to move beyond the farm and bring my understanding of birth into human communities—especially in places where women and birthing people do not have access to the resources and privileges I grew up with.

This led me to pursue an education in midwifery. My purpose is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care and to help create environments where birth can be safe, empowering, and even miraculous. I hope to bring my skills to underserved regions around the world, standing alongside women as they navigate one of the most profound moments of their lives.
